Points de Vue is an international urban art festival created in 2017, organized by the Basque Country Urban Community, with the support of local municipalities, the City of Bayonne, and Galerie Kaxu (formerly Spacejunk Art Centers).
The festival revisits the living environment of the inhabitants of the Basque Country by inviting local and international artists to intervene in and with public space. Taking a wide variety of forms, the works created inhabit the region for varying lengths of time, sometimes until they disappear. On this site, you will find all the artistic projects carried out to date, as well as resources made available to you.
An unmissable event in the visual arts landscape, Points de Vue takes place every year in October. The festival offers a program for all audiences, featuring new works, guided tours, creative workshops, screenings, and audiovisual performances. It is also an opportunity for professionals in the visual arts sector to come together around key themes during professional meetings.
The Points de Vue festival will take place from October 15 to 19.
Since 2016, more than a hundred works have been created in public spaces in Bayonne and several towns in the Basque Country (Saint-Palais, Urrugne, Chéraute, Ustaritz, Irouleguy, Isturits, Bergouey-Viellenave, Uhart-Mixe, Urt). Some have disappeared, others have endured.
For this ninth edition, as the Bonnat-Helleu Museum prepares to reopen, one question arises: what will become of the works produced in the street, financed by public money and created by living artists? A unique partnership has been set up with the Bonnat-Helleu Museum to address these issues and work together with the invited artists.
Starting October 1, two artist residencies are also planned in Hasparren and Ciboure to further extend the festival’s reach throughout the region. Keep your eyes peeled, as this new edition is sure to offer new perspectives on how to approach art and the region.
